New Year’s Eve Newburgh NY
Newburgh or Times Square?
New Year’s Eve 2012
The age old dilemma of where to welcome in the New Year always seems to be a discussion. Last minute plans are still being made. I usually spend the holiday with a quiet dinner at home. A bottle of champagne and a toast at the strike of midnight has been my style over the years. When my children were little they insisted we stay awake banging pots and pans, making lots of noise to welcome the New Year. Dick Clark was always on our TV and we would ceremoniously watch the ball drop in Times Square. Over the years the music and guests have changed, but I don’t remember a year without Dick Clark on my television.
Celebrations around Newburgh vary with different things to do. Many people have parties at home while others venture out in the cold to various waterfront restaurants and wine bars in the area.
There is always the option to take the train into Manhattan. Metro North runs a holiday schedule to get people in and out of the city with ease. A truly exciting event, to be up close and personal with the crowds in Times Square. It is however a tad cold for me. I have never been a part of that even though Newburgh is not far from the action. A little too cold for me, but a great option for many.
Times Square or the Newburgh Waterfront? What ever your preference is you definitely have some interesting choices.
Stay safe and warm. Most important to always have a designated driver.
Welcome 2013 in the proper style for a happy and healthy year for everyone.
